Did you know that the song "Auld Lang Syne" was originally a poem written by famous Scot Robert Burns? The original text was a good bit different simply because it was written in a Scottish-Middle English mix; however, our current version is still much like it, with the archaic words translated to working Modern English. Interesting.
The song is basically one friend saying to another, "We've had good times, but many years have passed since then and we've grown apart. Let's drink to the good times and stay friends despite our divergent paths." I like that.
I'm sorry, I had a point to this which I can't quite remember now. My brain feels full of warm, soggy cotton balls, so I think I'll take a nap. I've already gone to the grocery store and gotten gas and cleaned up a little today; I think I deserve a bit of a repose. And even if I don't deserve it, my faculties are so impaired by somnolence that I don't think I'd be able to do anything anyway.
