We're organizing a field trip to see a play right before Christmas break, and a kid brought his permission form to me yesterday.
Kid: Do we have to pay $10 for our field trip?
Me: Yes, it says right there that "all students must pay $10 up front."
Kid: My mom wrote a check for $5.
Me: We can't take it yet. You have to pay $10 for the trip.
Kid: Well my mom only gave me $5 because I don't want to sit up front.
