Feeling a little guilty.

I took off work tomorrow. I'm sick for real, so I shouldn't feel that bad, but I'm also one who believes that I should work until I am falling over dying, and then it's okay to take a half day. Last time I took off work I'd apparently been suffering from the swine flu for about three days, so I guess I should actually be proud that I'm paying attention to my body's "help me" cries. I'm working on it.

This weekend was rather relaxing. Yesterday I watched some television and cleaned up a bit (definitely a BIT) , got a shower, shaved, and wore a skirt. It's incredible what wearing a skirt will do for how I feel about myself. It was a nice day out, too, so I opened up my porch door for some fresh air. I think it did a lot for my [very minor] case of seasonal affective disorder (thanks, Alexandra, for the correction).

I had dinner with Brandi and Christina at their apartment (Christina made meatball subs!) last night, during which we were VERY giggly and after which we watched all kinds of random television. I like times like that where there's no pressure to please the group, but where we can just hang out with no expectations. Plus, we had Double-Stuf Oreos for dessert, and that makes any evening numero uno.

This morning I woke up and ate some toaster strudel stuff again before we went to a journey group (aka Sunday school) at church. The regular leaders were not there, so their son (early 20s) and his girlfriend (we're hoping she's 18) "led" the session. It was us, them and another girl who came in late. I worked very hard to keep conversation going, because it frankly wasn't going so hot. Brandi says it's because I am a silence-phobe but that is so not true. It's because I feel the need to make others comfortable, and if I'm that uncomfortable with the silence, then they must be, too. Duh. It wasn't all that bad, though, especially after we started sharing church camp stories. This guy laid under a sheet on the beach while his friends poured crackers on his face and a seagull bit him on the nose! I am def going back next week.

The service was fantastic, as usual, and we went to lunch with Christina's former patient-family and new friends, Guy and Ashley (and their weeks-old daughter Annick). Guy ("Ghee" like Guy de Maupassant) is a hockey player on our local team and Ashley is an OR nurse somewhere around here, I think. We had a great time getting to know them over fantastic food and drink, talking about everything from the area to baby care to sports to college to new inventions. It was a really good time, and I'll even venture to say that I'll soon be able to up my friend count to a whopping 7 soon. :-D Nice!!

I came back and worked on getting some things together for school while preseason baseball played in the background. Now you know I love me some baseball...and baseball plus sunny afternoon plus good shoes (there are like a jillion pairs all around me on the floor and I'm switching them periodically) equals a very happy time.

Tomorrow I'll be grading papers and things...but today I'm sticking with what I've got.
