The Bible says we were created to work (at least, I think it does, whether it says it explicitly or implicitly), but I tend to doubt that on occasion. I'm not a fan of working. If I had my way, I'd sit around all day long and do pretty much nothing. Now yes, I know I'd get sick of that after a while. But then I would read a book or hang out with friends, and I would be okay again.
It's days like today when I get a taste of the whole working-is-fun-because-you-were-created-to-do-it thing. I woke up naturally at 8:30, snoozed until 9, and ate brownies for breakfast. I wouldn't be surprised if that's a big reason why I'm in such a great mood today, by the way -- brownies are really good for you.
I turned on some Jack Johnson, put on real-people clothes, poured myself a glass of milk and opened up my porch doors. The poor birds have been starving since yesterday afternoon, so I refilled their feeder (those suckers kept landing on the feeder's perches and poking around like they were hunting Easter eggs, then they eyeballed me through the doorway with more than a little disdain) and started in on planting a few of my plants that have been sitting out on the porch since before spring break. I'll be honest and tell you that I only have two of them in the dirt at this point today, but I'm hoping to get three more in happy new homes within the next little while. My tomatoes and pepper plant have been homeless for far too long -- if I don't get them in some ground soon, they won't want to give me any beggabuls. I can't have that. I'm counting on fresh produce from my back porch this summer for all those times I want to make pepper steak and tacos.
So there's how things are shaping up for this beautiful day. A few more plants in pots, a little picking up around the house, some laundry, contented book time, and hopefully a piña colada if I can muster up the volition to go to the store for some mix. We'll see. It would be such a good addition to my Saturday, though, I must say.
I hope your Saturday is as relaxingly productive as mine! Work should be relaxing since it's what we were meant to do, you know....
