A three-day weekend is a beautiful thing.
I was wondering this morning when my next day off will be. I'm not sure there's any other time in September when I'll have a break from school; I've got to check the calendar, though, and see what's up. I'm terribly unprepared to go full weeks with the kids for the next while. I would like to have many more weekends like this one instead.
Brandi and I went to two minor league baseball games this weekend. She pulled for the home team and I pulled for the visitors (they're affiliated with my favorite MLB team, plus my first baseball love from freshman year of college plays for them). We met up with two of my friends from Appalachia (the yearly mission trip I go on) for Saturday's game, so that was an extra bonus. It was such a wonderful thing to be able to go to a baseball game again--it's been over a month, and I've missed it.
Yesterday, Brandi and I went over to celebrate Traci's birthday. Our birthdays are only five days apart, so it's easy to remember and lovely to celebrate. I tell you what, we've had so much cake recently because of it...it's been fantastic. So we got to hang out with Traci and her family all afternoon, talking and joking around with everyone and playing with Anna Dove, Traci's 2 1/2-year-old daughter. Very fun. :)
Today, I had originally planned to celebrate Labor Day by doing nothing. Then, I planned on doing laundry and reading books. Then, I planned to go to Hobby Lobby with Page (postponed due to crazy amounts of traffic and an early closing time). Then, I planned just to read. And here I am, carrying out my original plan by sitting on the couch, catching up on DVR, and playing on the internet. Somebody please light a fire under my tail so I won't always waste my time. If only I didn't love doing nothing so much...
The third week of school begins tomorrow. I'm contemplating changing careers. Not because I dislike teaching all that much, but because I want to find something that combines my love of doing nothing with my need for money. I think I've asked about this before, but remember to keep an eye out for men looking for a highly intelligent trophy wife (the intelligence is part of the trophy). I told my dear friend Andy yesterday that I'm "highly intelligent and very self-confident and as such I'm low-maintenance." He said that should make it easy for me to find a man, so I'm now giving you permission to repeat that to any prospects. You may also tell said prospects that I'm a talented cook and that I love to tell other people how to clean my house, so I'll be an excellent wealthy homemaker. I will also be happy to watch sporting events with him, and I will not complain if he leaves beer cans and pizza boxes on the coffee table and his dirty socks next to the couch. I'll happily direct someone else as to where those items should go.
See? It's all figured out.
